Intersex Resources

Every child deserves protection from genital cutting and other forms of nonconsensual body modifications. This includes children born with atypical sex characteristics, often referred to as intersex. Intersex describes any variation of genitals, gonads, or chromosomes (sex characteristics) "that don't fit typical definitions of male and female." [1]

Oftentimes children born born with intersex traits undergo unnecessary “normalization” surgeries early in life to make their genitalia appear more typically female or male. These procedures can have an array of negative physiological and psychological effects that can continue throughout life.

Your Whole Baby’s area of expertise and focus is non-therapeutic newborn penile circumcision. We recognize overlap as far as issues that people with intersex traits may face, and we want to support and amplify the voices of people creating intersex-specific resources.
